"Come Listen to a Prophets Voice"

Oh!!! Can I say How much I LOVE conference and the apostles and general authorities. They always say exactly the right things and are so powerful and touching with their words. Today was no exception and then the weather was gorgeous as well!
Here is what I got out of the sessions today and I will post tomorrow as well.

Conference April 2012
182nd Annual General Conference
Saturday Morning session:
President Monson
·      Conference is an opportunity to gain guidance, comfort and direction to make changes in our lives that have been hindering our progression.
·      Conference is an opportunity to gain the spiritual uplifting words of HF
·      This great cause of the church will go forward
·      Seek after things that are uplifting and will aid in our progression to eternal life
·      ‎"If there are changes that need to be made in your life-may you have the courage and incentive to change them."
-President Monson ♥
Boyd K Packer
·      Little children are unaware of the devastation that often surrounds them. They see the beauty through the ashes.
·      Children are meant to have 2 parents, a Mother and a Father. There is no other organization of a family that is permissible
·      When a child is lost it is not easy but parents may know that they will be able to see their child again and that the pain won’t last forever. This life wasn’t meant to be easy
·      In the eternal states righteous yearning will be fulfilled.
·      Husbands and wives first calling is to one another and then to their children
·      “Family time is sacred time and should be protected and respected”’
·      “No pain is forever with the atonement”

Cheryl A. Esplin
·      Teach in the moment
·      Family activities are also opportunities for learning and teaching the gospel
·      We need to live what we learn and teach our children to do the same

Donlad Hallstrom

·      We need to be self relient
·      We need to be just as devoted to the church on the inside as we are to the outside world
·      “We need the gospel and the church”
·      We must be converted to the church
·      Deepen our understanding of deiety
·      Mindfully pray to HF
·      Seek direction from the holy ghost
·      Build unshakable faith in Christ by studying the scriptures
·      Focus on the ordnances and covenants that you have made and will make
·      Live worthily to the covenants you have made
·      Unite the gospel with the church
·      Come prepared to each meeting
·      Don’t go to church to be entertained
·      There should never be a sacrament meeting that is “boring”

Paul E Koelliker:
·      When we yield to HF’s will and pattern we will feel of his presence
·      Seeking the patterns of HF will gain the power of the HG and will be lifted up in the last day
·      We are commanded to love the Lord

Dallin H Oaks
·      Sacrifices bring the blessings of heaven into our lives
·      Promise I made to HF with Ryan…getting pregnant, miscarrying and everything that went along with that process
·      “It is true” “ Then what else matters”
·      There is nothing that out weighs the value of the blessings received in the temple.
·      We will be blessed as we make sacrifices for our families and those around us

Henery B. Eyring
·      All trials and afflictions will always work together for our benefit. Nothing we go through in this life is without purpose
·      The last few weeks again are thought of during this talk. This has defiantly been a trial but we have been watched over and blessed through it in many different ways. I was talking to Ryan’s mom and if all of this had happened not knowing that I was pregnant it would have been that much scarier. Most women don’t even know they are pregnant until they are 8 weeks or so. But we knew when I was barely 6 weeks because of that CT scan and the events that took place the night I miscarried. Heavenly Father has been watching over me for sometime with this and I am eternally grateful for it.
·      “Acting on even a twig of faith allows God to grow”
·      We need to protect our faith in Jesus Christ and in the gospel with everything we have and we need to nurture it and let it grow
·      “Trials seem to make clocks slow down and seemingly stop”
·      Mom said that the ambulance seemed to take so long to get to the house and that she had to go to the days because the ambulance wasn’t coming fast enough. She was worried I was going to bleed to death and that they would be too late when they got there.
·      “Heavenly Father has promised he will bear us up and he always keeps his word”

Afternoon Session:

Jeffery R. Holland
·      “Why should you choose to be jealous when I choose to be kind?”
·      Do not feel envious when good fortune comes to another. This is not a competition to see who is the most blessed
·      “Envy is a mistake that just keeps on giving”
·      Be kind and be grateful that God is kind
·      “Don’t dwell on old issues and grievances”
·      The brethren need to step up and take advantage of the atonement and forgiveness
·      Heavenly Father only cares that you are home, not when you get there. It is never too late
·      “Don’t Delay… it is getting late”  We are running out of time before the second coming and I think it is closer then we would like to think. I by no means know when it is but it is getting closer from what he is impressing

Robert D. Hales
·      We need to become converted and self reliant in order to help those around us have the desire to gain faith, testimony and repent
·      We need the divine power received through temple ordinances more then ever today
·      We need to avoid debt and save money now. We need to get ourselves on higher ground so we can lift others in need.
·      We need to avoid living our lives in regret of what we did or did not do
David. S Baxter
·      Can’t we just come home to heavenly father for one night? No but he can come to us and help us through our darkest nights and dreariest days.
·      LOOK UP!!!
·      “Look to the future with confidence”
Ulisses Soares
·      We need to sow in the spirit and not the flesh
·      If you cross over the line even one inch you are in the tempters power
·      “Do my actions in the Lord or the Enemies territory?”
·      If our attitudes are good, then it is of God.
·      We must be determined to stay in the lords territory and those who strive to stay in the Lords territory become lights unto the world
·      A broken heart and contrite spirit is a symbol of our love to Christ and HF
Quinton L Cook
·      It is not up to us to judge. We need to have the courage to not judge others
·      We need to rescue those who have fallen away from the gospel and bring others to the gospel
·      The family is the most important unit in time and eternity
·      We need to avoid being overly judgmental about conduct that is foolish and that is not sinful
·      We need to instruct to avoid foolish behavior and repentant of sinful behavior
·      Praying with children may be one of the most important examples we make as parents
·      Our attitudes make the difference in how we view the church and doctrines of the gospel
·      We need to be reading the BoM daily and consistently
·      Ironic how different things in the scriptures hold different meanings for different people, what may mean nothing to one person can be of the greatest significance to another
·      “We emphasize our faith, not our fears”
Richard G. Scott
·      We are not separated from our spiritual ancestors and we hold them in our memory
·      We are lifted and strengthened by them in our times of trial
·      They see the dangers that we will face
·      Separation from loved ones is temporary and we will be reunited with them in the millennium
·      We need to ask, we receive revelation through asking
·      Negative emotions will drive away the power of revelation
·      “Our heavenly Father did not put us on the earth to fail”
·      Trust in HF divine plan of happiness and avoidance of anything contrary to it
·      “We receive help according to our faith, obedience and proper use of agency”
